Prime Minister Balen Shah Directs Establishment of Burn Treatment Centers in All Seven Provinces

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah has directed to immediately advance the plan to establish well-equipped 'burn' treatment centers in all seven provinces.

During a discussion with the Vice-Chancellors of health science institutes at the Prime Minister's Office today, he directed to advance the necessary plan for strengthening burn wards in major government hospitals.

Prime Minister Shah suggested ensuring timely access to quality treatment for patients with severe burns by coordinating effectively between the federal government, provinces, and concerned health institutions.

He also drew attention to the government's high priority on quality, effective, and citizen-friendly health services, urging for effective implementation of cleanliness in hospitals, improvement in service delivery, use of 'digital' technology, and good governance.

Prime Minister Shah directed the effective implementation of the arrangement where private hospitals provide at least 10 percent of their outpatient (OPD) services on a subsidized basis to expand access to health services for the poor, helpless, and economically weak citizens.

Suggesting that other institutions should also make the best practices developed by one health institution a medium for partnership and learning, he stated that the issue of land encroachment in the name of the institutes would be resolved in accordance with the law by coordinating with the relevant bodies.

During the discussion, the Vice-Chancellors presented suggestions related to improving the quality of medical education, improving health service delivery, hospital cleanliness, expanding specialist health services, managing skilled health manpower, promoting research, and infrastructure development.

They informed the Prime Minister about the 'digital' transformation in health services, effective implementation of the hospital information management system, and the impact of land encroachment in the name of some institutes on institutional development.

On that occasion, Vice-Chancellor of Patan Health Science Institute Prof. Dr. Navisaman Singh Pradhan, Vice-Chancellor of Rapti Health Science Institute Prof. Dr. Ajaykumar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Pokhara Health Science Institute Prof. Dr. Narayan Singh Gurung, Vice-Chancellor of B.P. Koirala Health Science Institute, Dharan Dr. Smriti Kafle, and Vice-Chancellor of National Medical Science Institute Vivek Acharya were present.
