Man Arrested for Sending Obscene Messages to Victim

Kathmandu. A person has been arrested for repeatedly sending obscene and insulting messages to the victim woman's email, causing her distress, harassment, and mental stress.

The arrested person is Surendra Prasad Khanal, 34, a permanent resident of Tarkeshwor Rural Municipality Ward No. 05, Nuwakot District, currently residing in Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 10, Kapan, Kathmandu.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim woman alleging distress, harassment, and mental stress, the Cyber Bureau initiated an investigation. During the technical analysis and investigation, the Bureau's team confirmed Khanal's involvement and arrested him on Ashad 26 from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27.

Further investigation is underway with a five-day remand granted by the Kathmandu District Court against the arrested Khanal under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063, informed Cyber Bureau Spokesperson and Information Officer, Police Superintendent Dilip Kumar Giri.
