Driver's Body Found 9 Days After Karnali Highway Accident

‎‎Surkhet. The body of the driver involved in the Sanghetada accident on the Karnali Highway on June 18, Thursday, was found after 9 days. The Chief of District Police Office, Dailekh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrawankumar Bik said that the body of driver Tularam Subedi was found.

According to him, his body was found on Saturday morning at 7 AM on the bank of the Karnali River in Jumagada, Ward No. 2 of Turmakhand Rural Municipality, Achham.

Subedi, a resident of Majhigaun, Ward No. 8 of Panchapuri Municipality in Western Surkhet, identified his body and took it. The condition of his brother and co-driver Ramprasad Subedi, who went missing in the Sanghetada incident, is still unknown.

On Thursday, June 18, at 11:30 AM, a Force vehicle with registration number Ka.Pra. 02–001 Kha 1055, traveling from Surkhet to Kalikot, met with an accident in the Sanghetada area of Ward No. 7 of Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality in Dailekh, on the Karnali Highway.

Among the 5 people traveling in the vehicle, Jekhe Tiruwa, 54, a resident of Ward No. 9 of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality, Kalikot, was found stuck on a cliff.

A doctor at Dullu Hospital declared him dead. Similarly, the body of Mage Tiruwa, from Ward No. 9 of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality, Kalikot, who went missing in the river along with the vehicle, was found last Monday in the Sungarkhala area of Kailali.

Similarly, the body of Sirjana, 18, from Ward No. 2 of Raskot Municipality, Kalikot, was found on Tuesday in the Dangdage area, which falls under Ward No. 4 of Chaukune Rural Municipality in Western Surkhet.

The police stated that one person and the vehicle are still missing. Although officials from all three security agencies are actively searching for the vehicle and passengers, they have not been able to locate them.

The vehicle had fallen about 400 meters below the highway into the Karnali River. The vehicle then submerged in the river.
