Three Dead, 13 Injured in Bajhang Jeep Accident

Dhangadhi. Three people died and 13 were injured in a jeep accident on the inner road section of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality-7 Sugare in Bajhang on Saturday. According to the District Police Office, Bajhang, the jeep, Supra01-001 Cha 2644, which was going from Bijagada via Sugare to Durgathali, fell about 300 meters and met with an accident. The jeep was driven by Devendra Dhami, 35, of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality-7 Kadachaur. Police said that Bimla Dhami, about 35, of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality-7 Kadachaur, Kela Devi Mahat, 60, of Durgathali Rural Municipality-6 Chuvan, and Chakra Mahat, 60, died on the spot in the accident. Driver Devendra Dhami, Ram Bahadur Mahat, Bir Bahadur Jagri, Jhalka Devi Mahat, Jayamati Mahat, and Harka Devi Mahat were seriously injured in the accident. Similarly, Navraj Dhami, Dipendra Jagri, Ramesh Dhami, Dhanaser Jagri, Hasuli Mahat, Gaumati Devi Mahat, and Indra Mahat were moderately injured. Police teams from temporary police posts Bijagada, Jhota, Bagthala, Area Police Office Durgathali, and District Police Office Bajhang were mobilized as soon as information about the incident was received. A team of Armed Police Force was also deployed for rescue. Although a helicopter of the Nepali Army was sent to the accident site for the rescue of the injured, it could not land even after two attempts due to bad weather, and it landed at the Panakot barracks in Jayaprithvi Municipality-3, the police said. Since rescue by helicopter was not possible, the injured were sent to the District Hospital Bajhang for treatment via ambulance and other vehicles, the District Police Office Bajhang informed. Police said that further investigation is being done into the cause of the accident.
