Two Auto Shows to be Held Separately in Nepal

Kathmandu. Two umbrella organizations of auto traders, Automobiles Association of Nepal (Nada) and Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (Naima), will organize separate auto shows this year as well, just like last year.

The competition that started last year seems to be continuing this year as well. Although Nada had a monopoly presence in the auto show until the 15th edition, Naima, formed by separating from Nada last year, started organizing its own auto show.

Accordingly, Naima will organize the 'Naima Nepal Mobility Expo-2026' before Nada. Competition between these two organizations in the auto sector to make which auto show more effective is likely to continue this year.

Both organizations have announced the dates for the auto show and are intensifying preparations. Businessmen are preparing to bring in and unveil new brands of vehicles.

Last year's two major auto shows had made the automobile sector dynamic. This year too, it is expected to make the market more dynamic.

Naima will organize the second edition of 'Naima Mobility Expo-2026' from August 11 to 16 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.

The expo will feature 51 stalls, more than 55 brands, and over 40 new products will be unveiled. The exhibition will include two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, electric and hybrid mobility solutions, technology, services, and other mobility-related products.

On the other hand, Nada's 18th Nada Auto Show-2026 will be held from August 26 to 31.

Naima's Claim: Second Edition Even Grand

Naima has claimed that it will make the second edition of the expo the biggest and grandest mobility exhibition ever.

At a press conference held on Monday, Expo Coordinator Gaurav Sharda informed that more than 53 world-renowned brands will participate this year and more than 40 new vehicles and products will be unveiled for the first time in the Nepali market.

On the other hand, Nada has also stated that it has already allocated stalls for the 18th edition of the auto show. According to Nada, stalls have been provided to 19 passenger vehicles, 10 two-wheelers, 17 light commercial vehicles, 76 small stalls, and 45 auto component companies.

From New Technology to Learning Sessions at the Expo

The Naima Expo will showcase two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, as well as electric, internal combustion engine (ICE), and hybrid vehicles.

The expo will not only feature vehicles but also present new technologies, services, and the latest mobility-related solutions, said Coordinator Sharda.

According to him, following last year's success, the exhibition has been made more organized and premium this year. Special infrastructure has been prepared keeping in mind the convenience of exhibitors, sponsors, partners, and visitors.

Considering the monsoon, arrangements for tents and trusses have been made so that visitors do not get wet while moving from one hall to another.

The exhibition venue has been made disability-friendly, and wheelchair users can move easily in all halls.

To solve last year's parking problem, additional parking has been arranged at the Nepal Police Club.

To facilitate transportation, a collaboration has been made with the ride-sharing company Pathao. Passengers coming to and going from Bhrikutimandap will get special discounts and promo codes.

To encourage digital payments for ticket purchases, a collaboration has been made with Union Pay. A cashback of up to 50% will be available when purchasing tickets through Union Pay.

Various learning sessions will also be conducted at the expo with the participation of experts, industrialists, businessmen, and influencers from the automobile sector. Discussions will be held on road safety, electric vehicles, infrastructure development, employment, and opportunities and challenges in the mobility sector.

Naima is Not Trying to Compete with Anyone: Chairperson Vaidya

Naima Chairperson Ritu Singh Vaidya said that Naima started a year ago with 21 members and has now expanded to 36 member companies. She claimed that this shows the growing trust of businessmen in Naima in the automobile sector.

'Naima is becoming stronger. We feel that the trust of auto traders is increasing. In the coming days, Naima Mobility Expo-2026 will play an important role in making the auto sector stronger,' she said.

She stated that although there is no need for two organizations in the automobile sector, two organizations have been formed due to various reasons.

'For now, auto shows will be held separately. But there is a possibility of organizing a single auto show in the future through dialogue and discussion,' she said.

Vaidya informed that 10 percent of the ticket fees collected from the expo will be spent on research in the mobility sector. She said that the facts and studies obtained from the research will be published in the Naima Mobility Journal.

According to her, Naima aims to organize the Naima Mobility Conclave in the future and work with various government agencies on skill development, road safety, and infrastructure improvement. She also stated that Naima is committed to developing the automobile sector as the economic backbone of the country by collaborating with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Finance.
