Roads Blocked Across Nepal Due to Floods, Landslides, and Maintenance

Kathmandu. As of Tuesday morning 8 AM, various highway and road sections across the country are blocked due to floods, landslides, and maintenance work. Traffic operations have faced problems as main roads in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces are affected.

In Koshi Province, the Mid-Hill Highway in Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality-5, Bhojpur has been affected by floods since April 27 (Baisakh 12). Currently, this road section is open for one-way traffic, and it is informed that there is also an alternative route.

In Kavrepalanchok, Bagmati Province, vehicular movement has been stopped on the BP Highway section, keeping in mind the potential risk of floods. All vehicles plying on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katuñjebesi route have been stopped since May 22 (Jestha 22).

Similarly, the Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-2 and 4, Mahalakshmi, Makwanpur is completely blocked due to road maintenance. This road, closed since May 29 (Jestha 15), is expected to remain closed until June 8 (Jestha 25) due to ongoing maintenance work.

Roads in Lumbini and Karnali provinces are also blocked by landslides and floods. In Rolpa, Lumbini Province, the Rukum-Ghorahi-Shaheed Marg is completely blocked due to a landslide in Hardidanda, Madi Rural Municipality-6, which occurred on July 6 (Asar 22).

In Karnali Province, the Bheri Corridor has been completely closed since July 1 (Asar 17) due to floods in the Rijegard Khola in Athbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum Paschim. In Jajarkot, Maluwa, Nalgad Municipality-8, a landslide on May 23 (Jestha 23) has also completely obstructed the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section.
