CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel Criticizes Rastriya Swatantra Party's Populism

Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that the ministers of Rastriya Swatantra Party and the government led by it have shown cheap popularity 'populism' by saying different things before and after the election. 

Writing on social media Facebook on Monday morning, General Secretary Pokharel quoted Balendra Shah's statement during the election that 'even the poor people should get education and health treatment and this is our agenda', and currently Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle's statement that 'it is not possible to get treatment of 1 lakh by taking an insurance premium of 35 hundred rupees'. 

General Secretary Pokharel sarcastically said that the current government has brought education and health tax to support the citizens at the grassroots level. 

'After hearing these contradictory statements of Rastriya Swatantra Party before and after the election, it should be clear what populism is now, right?' Pokharel asked, 'What is surprising is that even though such statements against public sentiment are opposed by the public, Prime Minister Balendra Shah is saying - rest assured, the country will be built!'
