Central Investigation Bureau Warns of Fraudulent Emails Using Its Name

Kathmandu. Attempts to defraud by misusing the name of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and its chief have been found. The Bureau has stated that it has taken serious note of messages being circulated with the intention of defrauding various individuals by sending unauthorized emails and showing fear of legal action.

International gangs or fraudsters are sending misleading messages using the name of CIB with the intention, 'Due to the seriousness of this case, I have decided to contact you personally, if you do not want any legal action by the Central Investigation Bureau, reply to this message immediately'.

The email further states, 'If there is no response from your side, I will allow CIB to file a case in court and a copy of the court's order will be sent to you.'

CIB has clarified that such misleading and rumor-mongering messages are not being sent or corresponded by the Bureau or its chief. The Bureau has also requested all concerned stakeholders not to believe such false emails.

The Cyber Bureau has stated that it is conducting necessary investigations in this regard and those involved in such illegal activities will be brought under the purview of legal action.
