Former Dairy Development Corporation MD Dr. Shatrughna Prasad Sah Convicted of Corruption

Kathmandu. Former Managing Director of Dairy Development Corporation Dr. Shatrughna Prasad Sah has been convicted in a corruption case. The joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Shanti Singh Thapa, while hearing the case, upheld the decision of the Special Court. The Special Court had previously convicted Sah, determining that he had amassed illicit wealth, and ordered the confiscation of illegal assets found in the name of Sushila Kumari Sah. The Special Court had convicted them in Poush 2075 BS. The Special Court had determined that he had acquired illegal wealth. The Special Court had also ordered a fine equal to the amount and a sentence of 9 years imprisonment, concluding that he had illegally acquired 6.824 million rupees. Sah had appealed against the Special Court's decision in the Supreme Court on Ashad 22, 2076 BS. The CIAA had filed a corruption case against him, alleging that he amassed illicit wealth and led an extravagant lifestyle inconsistent with his position while serving as Technical Officer to Managing Director at the corporation. It was found that Sah had engaged in corruption amounting to approximately 23.868 million rupees during his tenure. 'According to the property details submitted by Sah, his income is 14.497 million rupees,' the CIAA's charge sheet states, 'the amount spent or invested compared to income is 38.365 million rupees.' The charge sheet mentioned a discrepancy between the property details, income, and current assets submitted by Managing Director Sah.
