Far-Western University Holds Sixth Convocation Ceremony

Dhangadhi. Far-Western University on Friday completed its sixth convocation ceremony at the central office premises in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur. The university stated that 2,489 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD levels across six faculties including Education, Management, Humanities, Engineering, Agricultural Science, and Science and Technology were conferred degrees through the ceremony.

Although a large number of students were eligible for the convocation, only 767 students physically participated in the ceremony. According to Anuradha Rokaya, the university's examination controller, 242 students from the Education faculty, 239 from Management, 182 from Humanities, 53 from Engineering, 33 from Agricultural Science, and 18 from Science and Technology directly participated in the ceremony. Gold and Dean's medals were awarded to outstanding students at the ceremony.

This year, Lalit Karki, Durga Devi, Nishant Chand, Prem Bahadur Rokaya, Diwakar Pant, Bharat Saud, Kabita Joshi, Rajin Bohara, and Kailashraj Bhatt were honored with gold medals. Similarly, Mathuraprasad Upadhyay, Kailashraj Bhatt, Ayusha Joshi, and Bharat Saud received Dean's medals.

The Chancellor's medal, which was to be awarded to Nishant Chand from the Management faculty, was not distributed due to a writ filed in the High Court. The distribution of the Chancellor's medal was postponed after student Rekha Bhatta filed a writ expressing disagreement with the medal selection process. The university has stated that it will proceed with the necessary process regarding the Vice-Chancellor's medal to be awarded to Kailashraj Bhatt from the Agricultural Science faculty.

Another special attraction of this year's convocation ceremony was Dr. Tulsi Kumari Sharma. She became the first woman to obtain a Doctorate (PhD) degree from Far-Western University.

The convocation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of the university's co-chancellor and Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmita Pokharel. Members of the House of Representatives, Provincial Assembly members, former ministers, and various stakeholders from the education sector participated in the event.

Harish Bhatta, Director of the University, stated that the convocation ceremony was celebrated with enthusiasm, including parents, as it is a festival for students. Sanskrit scholar and litterateur Prof. Dr. Tulsi Prasad Joshi participated as the chief guest at the program.
