Visually Impaired Protest Against Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Government

Kathmandu. They have taken to the streets against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the government after the forceful removal and arbitrary detention of visually impaired people dependent on the streets. For the past few days, they have been protesting at Maitighar in the capital.

"It is not our wish to endure sun, rain, dust, and smoke, but a compulsion; we will not leave the streets without an alternative," they said. They accuse that they have been forced to start the protest after the city police suppressed and detained them, not even allowing them to earn a living by staying on the streets, at temples, and at intersections.
