Ilam Administration Restricts Vehicle Movement Due to Heavy Rains

Ilam. With the entry of the monsoon system into Nepal and heavy rainfall, there is a risk of floods, landslides, and damage to roads, bridges, and national highways, causing traffic disruptions. Therefore, the District Administration Office, Ilam, has imposed strict restrictions on vehicle movement.

The administration has requested the general public to exercise special caution and take precautionary measures while traveling on rural roads, including the Mechi Highway and Ilam Belase (Mechi Corridor).

Under the new regulations, overloaded heavy vehicles carrying timber and logs will be allowed to move only in a controlled manner until further notice. Similarly, vehicles carrying essential daily necessities, including food grains and construction materials, must operate strictly adhering to the road and vehicle capacity and condition.

To minimize risks, the administration has completely prohibited the movement of all types of vehicles, including passenger cars, buses, trucks, and other goods vehicles, from 8 PM to 5 AM. However, ambulances carrying patients and vehicles for essential travel in emergencies may be permitted to travel only after contacting and coordinating with the local police administration.

Considering the potential damage to public roads and the possibility of traffic disruption, the notice issued by Chief District Officer Laxman Bahadur Khadka urges vehicle drivers, owners, and passengers to travel only after obtaining prior information about road conditions and traffic.

Furthermore, the administration has also requested everyone to remain vigilant about potential damage, adopt preventive measures, and provide timely information.
