Alia Bhatt Denies Replacing Deepika Padukone in Kalki 2898 AD, Alpha Teaser Faces Criticism

Mumbai. After the teaser of Yash Raj Films' much-awaited film 'Alpha' was released, Alia Bhatt, who became a victim of trolling, has been told that the news of her replacing Deepika Padukone in 'Kalki 2898 AD' is not confirmed.

A spokesperson associated with the film has completely denied the claims that Alia has been signed for the film and has even started shooting. The spokesperson, speaking to Hindustan Times, clarified the news about Alia's casting.

He said, 'This has not been officially confirmed. Someone posted this on social media and other people took it as news and started copy-pasting. There is no clear information regarding her casting so far.'

The spokesperson also called the claim that Alia had only shot for 5 days of the film some time ago as false and baseless. In September 2025, the makers of 'Kalki' had issued an official statement informing that Deepika Padukone would not be in the second part of the film. It was later revealed that after becoming a mother, Deepika had demanded to work only 8 hours a day to work in the film.

Due to this demand, she was removed from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Spirit' along with 'Kalki'. After this news came out, there was a big debate in the film industry regarding the 8-hour shift.

Meanwhile, recently the teaser of the film 'Alpha', the first female lead film under Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, was released. Although it was claimed that the story of this film is original, many scenes were found to be similar to Hollywood films.

Besides this, the poster of 'Alpha' was also made to a great extent similar to the popular Hollywood film 'Dune'. Due to the exact copying of scenes and posters, the film's teaser and Alia were heavily criticized on social media.

However, the trailer of the film 'Alpha' starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Bobby Deol has been released. Actor Hrithik Roshan will also have a cameo role in this action and adventure-filled film. Hrithik has previously been a part of Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe's superhit films 'War' and 'War 2'.
