Tundikhel Greening Program Underway

Kathmandu. Grass planting is in full swing at Tundikhel, which holds cultural and historical significance. Under the 'Tundikhel Greening Program', grass is being planted in the open ground here. This campaign has been launched to transform the appearance of Tundikhel, which was excessively dusty, devoid of grass, and barren in some places, into a green one.

With about two dozen workers deployed daily, grass planting is underway here. From removing sandy soil to cutting grass seedlings, leveling the soil, rolling, and filling with soil, work is in full swing. The Bhrikutimandap side of Tundikhel, where grass planting first began, has already turned green, and now grass is being planted on the NAC side.

Under this program, initiated with the active participation of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, not only will grass be planted, but regular irrigation, proper conservation, and long-term management will also be carried out for its sustainability.

As the monsoon season is about to begin in Nepal, work here has been expedited. Generally, the time before the rainy season is considered technically most suitable for planting grass. Since the rainwater helps the grass to spread easily and grow well, the work has been pushed forward rapidly.
