MP Anushka Shrestha Highlights Lack of Information Hindering Citizen Opportunity

Kathmandu. Ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Anushka Shrestha has said that citizens are deprived of utilizing the opportunities provided by the government due to lack of adequate information.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, she clarified that there is no shortage of opportunities in Nepal, but ordinary citizens face problems because they do not get information about them.

MP Shrestha drew the government's attention to seriously review whether citizens are aware of government policies or not and to move forward by creating programs accordingly. Presenting the example that many small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are deprived of opportunities because they do not know that subsidies are available, she mentioned that the government should increase its capacity to inform citizens about the opportunities provided by the state.

Speaking at the meeting, MP Shrestha said, 'Nepal's small and medium-sized industries are the backbone of our economy. About 98 percent of businesses in Nepal are this, contributing about 22 percent to the economy. The government is also bringing good policies in this regard, but when entrepreneurs are asked, the answer is that it is difficult to get information. There is no shortage of opportunities in Nepal, but access to information about opportunities is still limited. Now, along with making policies, we also need to develop the capacity to deliver policies to the citizens.'

MP Shrestha emphasized the need for the government to develop the capacity to deliver its policies and plans to the citizens and to conduct a thorough review of it regularly.
