Nationwide Forecast: Thunderstorms and Light to Moderate Rain Expected in Most Cities

Kathmandu. On Friday, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is forecast in most major cities across the country.  

Although the weather is expected to be cloudy in most parts of the country with a possibility of rain, the maximum temperature is likely to remain high in some districts of the Terai.

Today, during the daytime, moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is forecast in Jumla, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri, and Taplejung. Among these, Pokhara has the highest probability of rain, at 60 percent.  

Similarly, there is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms in Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Simara, Biratnagar, Jomsom, Dharan, and Janakpur during the day. In Bhairahawa, there is zero possibility of rain during the day; it will only be partly cloudy.

Looking at the temperature situation, Dhangadhi's maximum temperature is estimated to reach 33 to 35 degrees Celsius this afternoon, which is the highest in the country. Similarly, the temperature in Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa will be between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.  

The maximum temperature in the federal capital Kathmandu is forecast to be between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature will be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius in Dadeldhura and Jumla.

Tonight, the weather will clear up in some cities in the western region. There is no possibility of rain in Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, and Jumla tonight; they will be partly to generally cloudy. However, in Bhairahawa, where there was no possibility of rain during the day, light rain with thunderstorms is forecast tonight.  

Tonight, there will be moderate rain in Biratnagar, Okhaldhunga, Jiri, and Taplejung, while there is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms and lightning in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and other remaining cities. Tonight, the temperature in Jomsom will drop to 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, which will be the lowest temperature tonight.
