Film 'Peddi' Director Apologizes for Controversial Scenes, Box Office Collection Unaffected

Mumbai. South superstar Ram Charan and Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor starrer film 'Peddi' is proving to be very successful commercially at the box office.

However, a big controversy arose regarding Janhvi Kapoor's character in this film being presented more boldly than necessary. Following strong public protest and criticism, film director Buchi Babu Sana confirmed that the controversial scenes have been removed from the film.

In an interview with Indian Express, director Buchi Babu Sana admitted that some scenes in the film were conveying a wrong and misleading message to the audience. He had already publicly apologized to the audience through social media.

As the controversy escalated, director Buchi Babu Sana gave his clarification through an interview. He said, 'Many people misunderstood Janhvi Kapoor's character. The main character in this film comes from a very backward hilly region. I wanted to show the simplicity of his character and the environment there on screen. He wants to marry the girl he loves. In the process of showing this, some scenes were giving the wrong message. We have corrected our mistake and removed all those scenes from the film.'

After the film's release, the audience strongly objected to the way Janhvi Kapoor's character named 'Achiyamma' was portrayed on screen. Many on social media criticized that the camera focused more on Janhvi's physical appearance than her acting and expressions. In addition, the audience also protested some romantic scenes shot between Ram Charan and Janhvi in the film.

Earlier, Buchi Babu had apologized to the audience in a post on the social media platform X. He wrote, 'I always have high respect for women both on-screen and off-screen. It was never our intention to portray any female character in the wrong way. If any part of the film has hurt people's sentiments, we sincerely apologize. Every woman deserves respect.'

Despite such a big controversy regarding the portrayal of the female character, there has been no negative impact on the box office collection of the film 'Peddi'. The film has already earned a grand collection of over 300 crore rupees worldwide. This is a sports action drama film, in which along with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu, and Boman Irani have also played main roles.
