Weather Forecast: Rain Expected Across Nepal, Relief from Heat in Terai

Kathmandu. According to the weather forecast released by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology for Wednesday, the weather across the country is expected to be cloudy today with the possibility of rain in most cities.

There is a possibility of some relief from the extreme heat seen in the Terai region for the past few days. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected there. Today, the weather in no city will be completely clear.

In the afternoon today, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in most parts of the country. According to the weather forecast, moderate rain is expected in the afternoon in areas including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Dharan, Janakpur, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri, and Taplejung. There is a 40 percent chance of rain in these areas.

Similarly, moderate rain is also expected in Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Birendranagar, and Jumla in the west and Karnali. In the Terai cities of Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa, and Simara, light rain with thunderstorms and lightning is forecast. Despite the possibility of rain, the temperature in the Terai cities will remain high.

Today, the maximum temperature in Dhangadhi is estimated to reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, and in Nepalgunj, it will be between 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu will be between 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The rain that starts in the afternoon will continue into the night. At night, moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is forecast in Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Simara, Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Dharan, and Janakpur. There is a 40 percent chance of rain in these areas at night. In other cities of the country such as Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, Ghorahi, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jomsom, Jiri, and Taplejung, light rain with thunderstorms is expected at night.

The lowest temperature in the country will be measured in the Himalayan districts. The department states that tonight the minimum temperature in Jomsom will drop to 10 to 12 degrees Celsius and in Jumla, it will drop to 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.
