Janhvi Kapoor's Alleged Chat Leaked Amidst 'Peddi' Controversy; Ram Charan Supports Actress

Mumbai. Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the South Indian film 'Peddi', an alleged personal conversation of actress Janhvi Kapoor has been leaked on social media.

These screenshots, shared by Janhvi's fan clubs, claim that the actress expressed concern over some objectionable camera angles during the film's shooting.

This chat surfaced a day after the film's director Buchi Babu Sana apologized. According to the leaked chat, the film's lead actor Ram Charan also fully supported Janhvi in this matter and reprimanded the director. However, Janhvi Kapoor or her official team have not yet confirmed these messages.

The controversy began after audiences criticized the way Janhvi Kapoor's character 'Achyamma' was portrayed in the film 'Peddi'. Audiences allege that the film focused more on Janhvi's physical appearance and attire rather than her character's story.

According to screenshots going viral on fan pages, Janhvi had repeatedly objected to the camera angles being used for her character in the film. In an alleged message dated October 30, the actress wrote, 'I clearly told them that there should not be any chest and hip shots in the film.'

In the chat, Janhvi mentioned that her co-star Ram Charan strongly supported her on this sensitive issue. She wrote, 'Ram sir is very good. He clearly told the director not to take shots from such angles anymore, shouting at the director. After that, the director became sad.'

As this controversy escalated, director Buchi Babu Sana issued an apology through his official X account on Saturday. He stated that as a filmmaker, he believes cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with people, and it was never his intention to make anyone uncomfortable or disrespect them. He mentioned that they are taking the reactions to some scenes of 'Peddi' seriously.

Speaking about respecting women, director Sana wrote, 'I always respect women, whether on screen or in real life. Our intention was not to portray any female character incorrectly or disrespect her, but if any part of the film has made people feel that way, we respect their feelings, understand their concerns, and sincerely apologize for it.'

After reviewing audience reactions, a decision has been made to make changes to the objectionable scenes, the director clarified. He acknowledged his responsibility as a storyteller to be mindful of changing thoughts and sensitivities over time.

He stated that every woman deserves respect, dignity, and proper representation, and he remains committed to bringing stories with strong female characters to the screen in the future.
