National Vigilance Centre Intensifies Surprise Inspections in Government Offices

Kathmandu. The National Vigilance Centre has intensified surprise inspections in government offices. The centre is conducting surprise inspections in 10 offices daily, informed Sarita Khativa, Information Officer of the centre. She stated that five teams have been formed to monitor attendance during office hours, uniforms, and file trapping. According to her, the centre has monitored 1,130 offices since last Shrawan. Among them, 6,710 employees were found not to be adhering to office hours and 1,162 employees were found not wearing the prescribed uniform, informed Khativa, Information Officer of the centre. In this process, some offices have been inspected two or three times. She said that recommendations have been made to take action against those employees during surprise inspections. Employees will be given a warning letter by the concerned office as per Section 55 of the Civil Service Act, 2049, and a record of that will be kept in the office. Similarly, the Act has a provision for departmental action against employees who have already received two warnings. The centre is also conducting inspections in one district each in the seven provinces. The centre has been conducting inspections in offices in districts with high public contact.
