Food Department Orders Recall of 'Tej' Brand Mustard Oil Due to Substandard Quality

Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has directed the immediate recall of 'Tej' brand mustard oil being sold in the market, finding it to be of substandard quality. 

The department ordered the seizure and recall of the oil after samples collected during market monitoring were tested in the laboratory and found not to meet the standards set by the Government of Nepal.

The problem was found in the mustard oil produced by Siddhartha Oil Industries located in Gurbaniya, Rupandehi, the department stated. According to the department, oil from 'Batch No. 20', produced on Falgun 28, 2082, was found to not meet the specified standards.

In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 38 of the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081, the department has directed the manufacturing company to immediately recall all oils of the said batch from the market. Furthermore, as per sub-section (4) of the same section, an order has been issued to stop the sale and distribution of oil from the said batch.
