Ministry of Foreign Affairs Celebrates Foreign Service Day

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is celebrating Foreign Service Day today. From B.S. 2079, this day has been celebrated every year on Jestha 10.

On Jestha 10, B.S. 2018, the 'Nepal Foreign Service (Formation and Categorization) Rules, 2018' was drafted and published in the Nepal Gazette. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that this day began to be celebrated in remembrance of the historic day when the Foreign Service was legally introduced within Nepal's civil service.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had decided in Falgun 2078 to celebrate Jestha 10 every year as Foreign Service Day. Accordingly, this day was officially celebrated for the first time on Jestha 10, 2079.

This day began to be celebrated when Narayan Khadka of Nepali Congress was the Foreign Minister.

Outstanding employees working in the field of foreign affairs are honored on this day. It is said that there is a program to honor employees and individuals involved in that sector today as well.
