Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol States Cannes Film Festival Was Historic for Nepal

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Acting Chief Sunita Dangol has stated that this year's film festival held in Cannes, France, has become historic for Nepal.

Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan Airport upon returning home on Saturday after participating in the festival, Dangol said that this first opportunity received by Nepali cinema in the history of the festival has become significant and historic.

She stated that the 'Jury Prize' received by the Nepali film 'Elephant in the Fog', directed by Avinash Bikram Shah, in the Un Certain Regard category has elevated the stature of Nepali cinema, the creative industry, and the field of art.

She expressed the metropolis's eagerness to utilize international-level knowledge, skills, and experience and to bring about balanced development in areas related to the creative industry through film festivals.

Dangol, who left for France last Sunday at the invitation of the Mayor of Cannes, France, David Lisnard, has invited Mayor Lisnard to participate in the Kathmandu Film Festival.
