Roads Affected by Floods and Maintenance Across Nepal

Kathmandu. Vehicle movement has been affected on major highways and road sections due to floods, landslides, and road maintenance in various parts of the country. 

According to the updated details as of 6:30 AM on Monday, obstructions have been created for a long time, especially on various road sections in the Kathmandu Valley, Koshi Province, and Bagmati Province.

On the Satungal-Chitlang road section, under Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. 9 in the Kathmandu Valley, a landslide at Deurali Devsthan has caused a 'complete obstruction'. This road, closed since Jestha 16, is expected to remain closed for another month due to ongoing maintenance work. 

Similarly, the Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section in Makwanpur district of Bagmati Province has also been closed for one month due to road maintenance. Due to maintenance work in the Mahalakshmi area of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality Wards No. 2 and 4, this road has been in a state of 'complete obstruction' since Jestha 15.

Likewise, in Kavrepalanchok district of Bagmati Province, 'operation of vehicles has been stopped' on the BP Highway section in view of the potential flood risk. Targeting all vehicles plying Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katunjebesi, transportation has not been allowed on this section since Jestha 22.

In the Koshi Province, the Mid-Hill Highway has been affected by floods in two districts. Due to damage by floods in Yangwarak Rural Municipality-2 Dobhan of Panchthar district, the Mid-Hill Highway has been 'completely obstructed' since Jestha 8. 

However, although the road was obstructed by floods in Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5 in Bhojpur district on Baisakh 12, this section is now 'partially open'. The updated details mention that an alternative route has also been arranged for the convenience of passengers at that location.
