Nepali Congress Leader Shashank Koirala Stresses Party Unity and Strengthening

Pokhara. Nepali Congress leader and former General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has stated that serious homework and dialogue are necessary for the unity and strengthening of the party.

Addressing a gathering of party leaders and workers organized in Pokhara, he said that ideological discussion and concrete initiatives are essential to make the party a cohesive force. He emphasized the need to build a united Congress by overcoming internal factions and sub-factions. 'If the party is not united, not only the Nepali Congress but also the future of Nepal will head towards darkness,' he said.

Koirala argues that continuous dialogue among leaders is necessary to resolve internal party problems. 'When holding general conventions or making important decisions, committees should be formed by including all sides,' he added, 'The policy of moving forward by including everyone is the way to strengthen Congress. The leadership should pay attention.' He stated that the party should embrace the sentiment that the party itself is above all, ending factionalism within the party.

On a different note, he said that protecting the constitution is the main responsibility of Congress at present. 'The protection of democracy and the implementation of the constitution should be the main agenda of Congress,' he said, 'We have obtained the constitution through long struggle and great sacrifice. Protecting it is our fundamental duty.'

He stated that the party will gain momentum only when the leadership provides equal opportunities to everyone without sidelining anyone, regardless of class or group.
