BP Highway's Critical 400 Besi Section to Open in 10 Days

Kathmandu. The new track of the challenging four hundred Besi section under the maintenance and reconstruction of the BP Highway will be brought into operation within the next 10 days.

The Chairman of the Infrastructure Development Committee of the Federal Parliament and National Independent Party MP Ashish Gajurel informed about the progress of the construction work after conducting an on-site inspection of the area. Currently, vehicles are plying from the diversion below in that section. Although the upper main track has been opened, it has not been fully opened to the general public with the objective of not obstructing the construction work. According to Chairman Gajurel, the foundation of the track has been prepared, and only the work of constructing walls in some areas remains.

During the inspection, project technicians informed that the work of opening the track has been successfully completed in the last 15 days. The target is to complete the filling and remaining construction work within the next 10 days and arrange for vehicles to ply from the upper road. The technical team stated that the track can be used even in case of floods or any other emergency. It has been informed that about 100 workers are regularly deployed in the 10-kilometer section. Although a majority of the general public and stakeholders have suggested working in three shifts, he clarified that a 10-hour work schedule is currently being adopted, keeping in mind the health of the workers and their efficiency the next day.

Under the project, the complex works of the Bhakundebesi section have been completed, and this 420-kilometer section is considered the final critical point.

For the safety of the road, work will also be carried forward simultaneously to construct retaining walls in muddy areas and necessary protection walls in rocky areas. Work is being expedited to operate this section in a systematic manner by Asar 15.
