Prisoner Dies During Treatment in Jhapa

Jhapa. A prisoner serving a sentence in the Jhapa District Prison has died during treatment. The 64-year-old Chandrakumar Ghimire, a resident of the former Nagi VDC-9 in Panchthar, died this morning during treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa. Ghimire, who was serving a 10-year sentence for a rape case, was taken to Mechi Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, on the evening of Jestha 7 after experiencing respiratory problems. The police stated that he was then taken to Om Sai Pathibhara Hospital, Bhadrapur, for further treatment on the same night. His health condition further deteriorated while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, after which he was referred to B&C Hospital in Birtamod. He died this morning at 3:45 AM during treatment, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Jhapa. According to the verdict of the Jhapa District Court, Ghimire had already served eight years, eight months, and one day of his sentence. The police stated that the body of the deceased has been kept at B&C Hospital.
