National Assembly Member Jayantidevi Rai Warns Government Against Tormenting Poor Citizens

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) National Assembly member Jayantidevi Rai has warned the government not to torment the poor and helpless people. Speaking in the National Assembly meeting on Friday, she drew the government's attention to the fact that the government has caused extreme suffering in the squatter settlements and urged it not to violate their right to live.

MP Rai accused the government of depriving poor and helpless citizens of their minimum right to live. She emphasized that the government must immediately arrange for food and shelter for those displaced from squatter settlements, as the situation of their lives is increasingly deteriorating.

Expressing anger over the government's style of functioning and raising other sensitive issues of the country, MP Rai said, "Let the government also let the poor and helpless live. Many people have high expectations from you. Your government is not for seeing this misery. Let the government keep this in mind."

MP Rai also warned the government to take timely steps to prevent the recurrence of incidents of assault and clashes among locals due to internal border disputes in Humla and Bajura districts. She expressed serious concern to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the concerned bodies, stating that if such internal disputes are not addressed in time, they could lead to bigger accidents in the future.

She said, "There has been a clash in Humla and Bajura over the issue of border disputes. There has been an assault. This is a serious matter. If such issues escalate, we have heard that other bad incidents will occur there. I want to urge the government to find out the truth about this matter and resolve the problem in time."
