Lumbini Province Assembly to Discuss Budget Principles and Priorities

Rupandehi. Discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill 2083 will begin in the Lumbini Province Assembly from today. The Lumbini Province Assembly Secretariat has stated that the agenda for the meeting, scheduled for 2:00 PM today, includes Province Assembly members expressing their views on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill.

The Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the Province, Dhanendra Karki, presented the principles and priorities of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 in the second meeting of the Province Assembly held on Thursday. Preparations are underway to formulate the budget focusing on production, employment, infrastructure development, good governance, and social justice.

A realistic, implementable, and results-oriented budget is being prepared amidst limited resources and increasing liabilities. Information has been provided that priority will be given to controlling current expenditure, increasing the effectiveness of capital expenditure, economy in public spending, and financial discipline.

Priority will be given to areas that will help make the province's economy dynamic by increasing production and productivity through agriculture, industry, tourism, energy, and infrastructure sectors, and will support import substitution and export promotion. A policy has been adopted to create employment opportunities within the province through programs based on skill development, startups, self-employment, and innovation targeted at youth.

Similarly, Minister Karki informed the assembly that the service delivery will be made simple, fast, transparent, and citizen-friendly by expanding the digital governance system, and the use of digital systems will be increased in revenue administration, public procurement, accounting management, and service delivery.
