Youth Drowns While Swimming in Pokhara's Phewa Lake

Pokhara. A youth has died after drowning while swimming in Phewa Lake, a tourist destination in Pokhara. 

The deceased has been identified as Ribaj Gurung, approximately 27 years old, a resident of Kahundanda, Pokhara Metropolitan City-11, Kaski. His life was lost due to drowning in the lake.

Upon receiving the news that Gurung went missing while swimming in Phewa Lake, a special team was mobilized for search and rescue from Armed Police Force Nepal No. 24 Battalion Kalika Kaski. A team of 13, including expert divers and a disaster management team, led by Armed Police Assistant Inspector Amrit Chhetri, reached the scene.

The Armed Police diving team continued the search operation throughout the night. During the search, Gurung was found unconscious in Phewa Lake at night and was rescued. Immediately after the rescue, he was sent to Pokhara Health Science Academy (Western Regional Hospital) for treatment.
As soon as he was brought to the hospital, doctors examined him and declared him dead. Police have stated that his body is currently kept at the hospital for post-mortem examination.
