Madhesh Chief Minister to Seek Vote of Confidence Today; JSP Nepal's Stance Unclear

Kathmandu. Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Yadav is taking a vote of confidence today. However, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, which is decisive in the Provincial Assembly, has not yet clarified its stance on whether to support the Chief Minister's vote of confidence proposal.

Chief Minister Yadav is presenting the proposal related to the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly at 11 AM today. Before that, a meeting of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal's parliamentary party is being held in Janakpur to discuss whether to give a vote of confidence.

According to a leader participating in the meeting, different views are emerging in the meeting. Sources indicate that most are expressing the view that Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal should now stay out of power, while some believe that this government should not be given a vote of confidence.

The parliamentary party meeting held earlier had decided to continue the current coalition government. The Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal's meeting is ongoing, with the view that after the unification between Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal is finalized, the Madhesh government should move forward in a new direction.

With 26 lawmakers, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal is the largest party in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly. The issue of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal staking a claim to government as the largest party has also been raised in the meeting. However, the Nepali Congress, the party leading the government, is not in favor of handing over the government to Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal immediately.

Furthermore, most members of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal's provincial assembly are opposing the idea of forming a government in alliance with the UML.

In this situation, discussions are ongoing regarding the role Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal will play. Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal leader Shailendra Sah stated that the party's parliamentary party meeting will make the necessary decision in this regard. He said, 'Until yesterday, the plan was to continue with the current coalition; today, a meeting is being held. We will proceed based on the decision made by the meeting.'

Janmat Party has already decided not to give a vote of confidence to the Chief Minister. Janmat Party has issued a whip to its lawmakers to vote against the vote of confidence.

Janmat Party General Secretary Chandan Singh said that they have withdrawn their support from the government and are now outside, and the ball is now in Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal's court.

He stated that the course of the Madhesh Province government will move forward based on the decision made by Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal. When asked, 'Did Janmat withdraw support from the government after consulting with Janata Samajwadi?', he did not respond.

Sources indicate that Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, Patron Mahanta Thakur, and Janmat Party Chairman Dr. CK Raut have held discussions regarding the Madhesh Province government. However, the details of their discussions have not been made public.
