Indian National Arrested with Brown Sugar in Birtamod

Jhapa. Police have arrested an Indian national with banned narcotic brown sugar from Birtamod, Jhapa. A joint team of police deployed from the Area Police Office, Anarmani and the Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office, Kakarbhitta took him under control.

The arrested person has been identified as 34-year-old Kamal Barman, a resident of Khoribari Gram Panchayat in Darjeeling district of West Bengal state, India, informed District Police Office Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awale. According to the District Police Office, the police team raided the Deurali Hotel located in Birtamod Municipality-5 based on specific information that illegal trading of narcotics was taking place.

Upon checking Barman, who was staying in a hotel room, police recovered 31 grams 970 milligrams of a sticky substance resembling brown sugar, excluding plastic, from his possession, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Awale. Barman, who was arrested on Friday evening, is under further investigation by the Area Police Office, Anarmani, he said.
