Congress Leader Singh Criticizes Party President Thapa Over Leadership Hastiness and Forged Signatures

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Prakashman Singh has commented, targeting party president Gagan Kumar Thapa, that one cannot violate the party's procedures and bylaws just because someone is in a hurry to come to leadership. Speaking at a special gathering of the Bagmati Province, leader Singh also made a serious allegation that the party was being captured through forged signatures of the delegates of the party's 14th general convention.

During his address, leader Singh urged President Thapa not to forget the role played by the party and senior leaders in establishing democracy and people's rights in the country. He warned that they would not stand by and watch idly while the organization is weakened by violating the provisions in the party's procedures and bylaws. He argued that while every issue is debated in the Nepali Congress, a democratic party, rushing to seize leadership by breaking rules is unacceptable.

Expressing his views, leader Singh said, 'What we all need to understand is that the Nepali Congress is a democratic party. In this party, there is a debate even on which issues to prioritize and which not to. But what is happening here is that it's not happening like this just because someone is in a hurry to take leadership. What we need to understand is that the Nepali Congress party has always been at the forefront according to historical needs to give rights to the people, and the role played by party leaders to secure the rights of the people is important.'

He added, 'But should we just stand by and watch idly while the party is weakened by violating the procedures that should be followed within the party, according to the bylaws of the Nepali Congress, according to the rules? The court may have done it, the Election Commission may have done it. But the contribution made by the senior leaders of the party for the benefit of the country through the party cannot be ignored. If the party is sought to be captured through forged signatures of party members, then which party can operate well here?'

Leader Singh emphasized that the party's regular general convention should be held only after uniting leaders from all levels and factions of the party. He drew the leadership's attention to operating the party in a procedural manner, including everyone, rather than politics of exclusion.
