New Emergency Block Construction Begins at Ilam Hospital with Indian Support

Ilam. The construction process for a new emergency block has commenced to enhance services at Ilam Hospital in Ilam Municipality. The foundation stone for the new building, located in Ward Number 7 of Ilam Municipality, Koshi Province, was laid during a special ceremony on Friday.

Geetanjali Brandon, Counselor at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, and Ilam Municipality Mayor Kedar Thapa jointly laid the foundation stone to inaugurate the construction work. This project, being built with financial assistance from the Government of India, is expected to provide easier access to healthcare for residents of Ilam and surrounding areas.

This new emergency block at Ilam Hospital is being constructed with financial support of approximately 94 million Nepali Rupees from the Government of India. The project is categorized under the High Impact Community Development Project, and its implementation and supervision will be handled by Ilam Municipality. The block, equipped with modern equipment and adequate facilities, is expected to bring a significant change in the hospital's service delivery.

During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Mayor Kedar Thapa and other stakeholders praised this significant support provided by India in the health sector. Mayor Thapa stated that the new facility would reduce the compulsion for city residents and other patients in the district to travel elsewhere for emergency treatment.

Discussing the multidimensional and close neighborly relations between India and Nepal, Embassy representative Brandon mentioned that India is always ready to support the development priorities of the Government of Nepal.
