Outgoing Nepali Congress Acting President Khadka Convenes Meeting of Loyalists

Kathmandu. Following the Supreme Court's decision to grant legitimacy to the Central Committee led by Gagan Thapa—who was elected president through a special general convention—outgoing Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has called a meeting of outgoing central committee members from his faction. Outgoing central committee member Laxmi Khatiwada confirmed that the meeting is scheduled for Baisakh 15.

'We have received notice that Purna Bahadur Dai has called a meeting of outgoing central committee members at the Smart Hotel in Maharajgunj on Baisakh 15,' Khatiwada told Rato Pati. 'It is said that contemporary politics will be discussed.'

Khatiwada stated that the meeting will focus on determining the future course of action.

The Congress party has issued a show-cause notice to former acting president Khadka for alleged breach of discipline. Before Khadka could respond to the notice, President Thapa visited his residence on Baisakh 6 for discussions. Khadka has convened this meeting of his faction's outgoing central members before the establishment faction has presented a proposal on how to proceed.
