Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh to Miss Bangladesh Series Due to Personal Leave and Injury

Melbourne. Australia's explosive batter Travis Head will miss the limited-overs series against Bangladesh. He will miss this tour as he has been granted personal leave after the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Similarly, captain Mitchell Marsh has also been ruled out of the ODI series. He has not yet fully recovered from a groin injury that forced him to miss games during the Pakistan tour.

Leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has also been ruled out of the team after being injured in Pakistan. Off-spinner Todd Murphy has been included in the Australian white-ball squad for the first time in his place. Matt Short and Ollie Price, who were part of the Pakistan tour, have been retained in the squad as replacements for Head and Marsh.

Head was not part of the Pakistan tour team as he had to play the playoffs for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Although his name was initially included in both the ODI and T20 squads against Bangladesh, he has been rested considering the workload of playing as an opener in all three formats over the next 12 months.

The replacement for him in the T20 squad is yet to be announced. According to chief selector Tony Dodemaide, Head has been granted leave for personal reasons and will return to the squad from the Test series against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Marsh withdrew his name at the last moment from the Pakistan series due to an injury aggravated during the IPL. Although he was expected to captain both formats during the six-match Bangladesh tour, he will now focus on preparing to be fit only by the T20 series starting June 17.

With regular captain Pat Cummins also rested along with Marsh and Head, Josh Inglis will captain the team as he did during the Pakistan tour. If Marsh does not recover in time, Inglis is also likely to captain the T20 team.
