CPN (UML) General Secretary Pokharel Attributes Election Setback to Failure in Communicating Political Developments

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel stated that his party's failure to effectively explain the regressive events of Bhadra 23 and 24 to the public was a weakness that led to electoral setbacks in the Falgun 21 elections.

Addressing a program held at the party office on the occasion of the party's establishment day on Wednesday, he remarked that the inability to clarify these regressive incidents resulted in the party facing a blow in the elections.

'In the General Election 2082, the party had to face unexpected results. Behind that, the events of Bhadra 23 and 24 posed serious challenges not only to Nepal's communist movement but also to the democratic movement, the constitution, and Nepal's sovereignty,' General Secretary Pokharel said. 'For that reason, we put forward the recognition of the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, as that event was not a path toward progress but a path toward regression.'

General Secretary Pokharel noted that no one other than the UML could grasp this truth. Pokharel also claimed that the Falgun 21 election was the second part of the events of Bhadra 23 and 24. 'The election of Falgun 21 is part two of the events of Bhadra 23 and 24,' Pokharel said. 'The reason for such an election result is the failure to explain the events of Bhadra 23 and 24 to the public.'

He stated that efforts have been made to spread populism and anarchism by creating confusion in a Goebbels-style manner against the patriotic and progressive government. He added that the lack of evidence to prosecute the party chairman, despite his illegal arrest based on the Karki Commission report, confirms that a conspiracy took place on Bhadra 23.

He mentioned that while he has congratulated those who achieved success in the election, the way events have unfolded in a short time confirms the suspicions they had held.

'Let us investigate the assets of our leaders, and let the assets of those currently in government be made public as well,' he said. 'Facts show that no one has as much integrity as the UML leaders in matters of good governance.'

Stating that the public turned against the UML due to misinformation, Pokharel claimed that they would now move the communist movement forward from a new perspective.
