IPL 2026: Major Shifts in Orange and Purple Cap Standings After Sunday's Thrillers

Mumbai. Following two thrilling matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, there has been a significant shift in the Orange and Purple Cap standings. Outstanding performances in the matches between Lucknow Super Giants vs. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians vs. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have shaken up the individual leaderboards.

• Patidar's Batting Blitz, Orange Cap Race Heats Up

Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar surged to second place in the Orange Cap race after playing an aggressive innings of 53 runs off just 20 balls against Mumbai Indians. Patidar, who has been performing consistently this season, has accumulated a total of 195 runs across four innings with scores of 31, 48*, 63, and 53. He has overtaken Sunrisers Hyderabad's Heinrich Klaasen to secure the second spot. 

Currently, Rajasthan Royals' Vaibhav Suryavanshi remains at the top. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who also contributed 50 runs against Mumbai, has climbed to fifth place with 191 runs, just 4 runs behind Yashasvi Jaiswal.

• Prasidh Krishna Claims the Purple Cap

In the bowling department, Gujarat Titans' Prasidh Krishna has taken control of the Purple Cap with a stellar performance. After taking 4 wickets for 28 runs against Lucknow, Krishna's total wicket tally for the season has reached 10. He has surpassed Rajasthan Royals' Ravi Bishnoi, who has 9 wickets. 

Last season's Purple Cap winner, Krishna, has continued his momentum this time as well. Chennai Super Kings' Anshul Kamboj is in third place, while Lucknow's Prince Yadav and Bengaluru's Jacob Duffy are tied for fourth place with 6 wickets each.
