All Nepal Peasants' Federation Demands Immediate Fertilizer Supply

Kathmandu. The All Nepal Peasants' Federation (Revolutionary Center) has demanded that the government ensure the supply of chemical fertilizers.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Federation noted that there is a nationwide shortage of chemical fertilizers during a critical period for sowing paddy and millet seeds, weeding corn, applying fertilizer to spring paddy, and cultivating seasonal vegetables, and has urged the government to guarantee supply.

The Federation stated in its release, "Paddy, corn, and millet are strategic crops that directly impact Nepal's national economy, the lives and livelihoods of farmers, and the food security of citizens. It is unfortunate that there is a shortage of chemical fertilizers during the peak cultivation season, forcing farmers to abandon their work to queue for fertilizer or buy it at exorbitant prices. This problem must be resolved."

The Federation has also demanded the control of black marketing, the formulation of a long-term plan to resolve the issue, and the distribution of fertilizer based on priority, keeping the interests of small and productive farmers in mind.
