Legendary Indian Singer Asha Bhosle Passes Away at 92

Mumbai. Renowned Indian singer Asha Bhosle has passed away. Doctors at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai confirmed the singer's death on Sunday.

Asha Bhosle was admitted to the hospital on Saturday following a cardiac arrest. She remained active in the singing industry for decades. She was 92 years old.

Born on 8 September 1933 in Maharashtra, Asha Bhosle began her singing journey at the age of just 9. Following the death of her father, Deenanath Mangeshkar, she began singing and acting alongside her sister Lata Mangeshkar to support the family financially. She started playback singing with a Marathi film in 1943 and stepped into Hindi cinema with the 1948 film 'Chunariya'.

Known for her versatility, Asha Tai, who lent her magical voice to ghazals, bhajans, pop, and classical music, also holds a world record. In 2011, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized her as the most recorded artist in music history.

Renowned singer Asha Bhosle sang over 12,000 songs in more than 20 Indian and foreign languages. Her timeless hits like 'Dum Maro Dum', 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko', and 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' remain immensely popular today.
