Nepal Government Sets Minimum Support Price for Wheat and Spring Paddy

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has determined the minimum support price for wheat and spring paddy. Following the formation of the new government, the minimum support price was set through the initiative of Minister Geeta Chaudhary. 

For the current fiscal year, the prices for spring paddy and wheat have been set at 2,856 rupees and 49 paisa per quintal and 3,945 rupees per quintal, respectively. This price is the minimum support for spring paddy with 18 percent moisture content.

In cases where moisture content exceeds 18 percent, the weight will be reduced at a rate of 1 kg 200 grams per quintal to determine the price. Compared to last year, the price of wheat has increased by 77 rupees and 62 paisa per quintal, and spring paddy by 55 rupees and 8 paisa per quintal.

In the previous fiscal year, the price of wheat was 3,867 rupees and 38 paisa per quintal, and spring paddy was 2,800 rupees and 69 paisa per quintal. The government has been setting minimum support prices to ensure fair returns for farmers and to encourage increased production.
