MP Renu Chand Criticizes Government Over Insects in Squatter Food

Kathmandu. Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) MP Renu Chand has strongly criticized the government over the issue of insects found in the food of squatters. Speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Friday, she questioned Home Minister Sudhan Gurung about the menu and the discrimination in the food provided to squatters.

MP Chand mentioned the incident where a three lakh rupee fine was imposed when a bone was found in the omelet the Home Minister was about to eat, and asked how much fine the government would impose when insects were found in the food of squatters. She also accused the government of treating squatters unfairly.

She expressed anger, saying that promises were made to manage squatters and votes were sought, but after coming to power, they are being evicted. She stated that the government is now removing squatters even from holding centers.

In the meeting, she said, 'A bone was found in the omelet the minister was about to eat, and a fine of three lakh rupees was imposed. You did the right thing. How much fine are you imposing on the government when insects are found in the food of squatters? Or what action are you taking against the government? You ask for votes by saying you will manage squatters, and then after reaching the chair, you evict them, is this what you call choosing the knowledgeable? Now the government is chasing squatters away from the holding center. We are new, we have come with magical abilities to solve every problem, and yet you are violating the human rights of squatters? This government lacks ideological clarity.'

MP Chand demanded an answer from the government, accusing the current government, which claims to solve all problems, of now violating the human rights of squatters.
