Finance Secretary Upadhyay Emphasizes Private Sector's Role in Economic Development

Morang. Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyay has stated that the private sector plays a crucial role in the country's economic development. During a discussion and interaction program of the Revenue Advisory Committee held today in Biratnagar for the formulation of the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, he mentioned that the government will provide necessary facilitation to further enhance the role of the private sector in creating employment and increasing economic activities in the country.

Secretary Upadhyay expressed the view that with a stable government now in place, there is a golden opportunity to contribute to national development by formulating entrepreneur and business-friendly laws. He also affirmed the current government's commitment to protecting individual property, noting that it is also national property.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry, Uttar Kumar Khatri, stated that the program was organized with the objective of achieving economic prosperity through trade facilitation. Director General of the Department of Customs, Shyam Prasad Bhandari, mentioned that reforms have been made in the customs sector in accordance with the demands of the private sector.

Director General of the Inland Revenue Department Madan Dahal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Koshi Province Rajendra Raut, President of the Morang Merchants Association Anupam Rathi, President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries Morang Nanda Kishore Rathi, and Pawan Sharda of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, among others, shared their views on various issues.
