National Independent Party Convention Boosts Chitwan Economy by Over NPR 50 Crore

Chitwan. It is estimated that more than NPR 50 crore has been transacted in Chitwan and surrounding areas due to the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

For about a week, representatives, observers, and well-wishers from across the country made the hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas of the district vibrant. The convention, inaugurated last Sunday, is concluding today. Representatives and observers had started filling up the hotels here since Saturday.

According to Rajan Gautam, coordinator of the Accommodation and Food Management Subcommittee, the business has exceeded NPR 50 crore in a week. Gautam, who is also a former president of the Federation of Industry and Commerce, Chitwan, said that representatives, observers, and well-wishers spent about NPR 20 crore on accommodation. He stated that up to 20,000 people stayed in Chitwan in a single day.

Gautam said that a large number of RSP supporters came to the district on the day of the convention's inauguration and the following day. He said that the direct benefit has gone to Bharatpur as the numbers gradually decreased on other days.

He mentioned that representatives stayed in hotels in the eastern areas including Sauraha and even in hotels in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi. While the representatives had to arrange their own accommodation, the party had arranged food for four days. Representatives ate their own meals before and after, and when convenient. He said that the party alone would spend more than NPR 4 crore, and all sectors here have been vibrant for a week.

According to Inspector Anil Thapa, chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Chitwan, about 2,200 small and large vehicles came from outside. Rajendra Oli, senior vice-president of the Federation of Industry and Commerce, Chitwan, said that the district has been vibrant for about a week. He said that when hotels and restaurants are full, it makes other sectors vibrant.
