Popular South Indian Actress Subhashini Subramaniam Passes Away at 36

Chennai. Popular South Indian television and film actress Subhashini Subramaniam has passed away at the age of 36. Her body was discovered in her rented flat in Iyyappanthangal, Chennai.

According to preliminary reports, Subhashini had been suffering from depression for some time. Indian media outlets reported that she had a heated argument with her husband over a video call shortly before her death.

Subhashini, who was of Sri Lankan origin, married Bipin Chandran in 2024. However, the couple had been living separately due to recent marital discord.

Police investigations revealed that Subhashini had a major dispute with her husband, Bipin, during a video call on April 6. While it is suspected that she may have died by suicide in a fit of rage following the argument, the police have sent the body for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Subhashini, who began her acting career with the 2012 film 'Ini Avan', had established a distinct identity in the Tamil television industry. She was particularly popular among audiences for her role as Deepika in the hit serial 'Kayal'. Additionally, she worked in films such as 'Illam Mela Irukuravan Pathuppan' and 'Web'.

Just two days before her death, she had shared a post on social media about the essence of life. The sudden demise of the talented actress, who had moved from Sri Lanka to Chennai to establish herself in the Tamil entertainment industry, has left the South Indian film fraternity in shock.
