Ministry of Federal Affairs Issues Strict Directive to Absentee Local Government Officials

Biratnagar. The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a strict directive regarding Chief Administrative Officers and other staff assigned to local levels who have failed to report to their duty stations on time.

The Ministry issued an 'urgent notice' today, instructing employees who have not reported to their assigned locations or are not attending regularly to join their posts immediately. This action follows persistent complaints from local levels that the absence of Chief Administrative Officers is severely impacting service delivery.

According to the Ministry, the failure of Chief Administrative Officers to attend regularly and the delay in staff reporting after transfers or postings have hindered the services that the public is entitled to receive. The Ministry has concluded that this is also obstructing the daily operations of local governments.

Recalling the provisions of Section 84 (4) of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, the Ministry has directed assigned personnel to report to their respective local levels and commence work as soon as possible. The notice states, 'If employees do not report as per the decision and service delivery at the local level is affected, action will be taken in accordance with prevailing laws.'
