Road Division Mahendranagar Issues 15-Day Ultimatum to Three Contractors Over Project Delays

Kathmandu. The Road Division Office in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, has issued a 15-day public notice to three construction companies, demanding an explanation as to why their contracts should not be terminated due to extreme negligence and abandonment of projects.

The division stated on Monday that it initiated the action after the companies failed to show interest in completing the work despite repeated written and verbal reminders, leaving construction sites abandoned for a long period.

The office has directed the firms to submit a written explanation within 15 days from the date of the notice. The Road Division warned that if no valid explanation is provided within the stipulated time, it will terminate the contracts, blacklist the companies, forfeit performance bonds, and recover additional costs incurred to complete the remaining work as government dues.

The contractors failing to complete projects on time include Mainachuli/Malika/MBA JV of Mahendranagar, Nagarjun Construction Pvt. Ltd. of Kathmandu, and Bajraguru B & B Sunlight JV of Dhangadhi. Mainachuli/Malika/MBA JV was responsible for road expansion and drain construction on the Attariya-Gaddachauki section of the East-West Highway (Kailali and Kanchanpur).

Nagarjun Construction Pvt. Ltd. held the contract for the restoration, slope management, and blacktopping of the Mahakali Highway (Kailali).

Bajraguru B & B Sunlight JV has left the upgrading work of the Khutiya Bridge-Urma-Bhada road, located in Constituency No. 5 of Kailali, incomplete.

According to the Road Division Mahendranagar, strict legal action will be taken against these companies in accordance with the Public Procurement Act 2063 and Regulations 2064. The public has been suffering due to the failure to complete important road projects on time caused by the negligence of the contractors.
