Statue of Bhanubhakta Acharya Reconstructed in Diktel Bazaar

KHOTANG: The statue of national luminary and Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya, located at Bhanuchok in Diktel Bazaar, has been reconstructed. The project was completed through a formal tender process following the allocation of Rs 10 million by the Koshi Province Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development for the overall beautification of Diktel Bazaar.

Binam Dahal, Chief of the Physical Infrastructure Development Office, stated that along with the statue, various infrastructure development works have been carried out across the market area. "Under the beautification program, a half-bust statue of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya has been reinstalled at its original site. Stakeholders have agreed to purchase and install a larger statue of Acharya there," he said. "The area around the statue has been enhanced with tile installation, painting, lighting, garden construction, signage, and the inclusion of verses from Bhanubhakta's poetry, contributing significantly to the aesthetic appeal of Diktel Bazaar."

As part of the same project, road improvements and construction were carried out from the District Police Office entrance through Bhanuchok to the Public Service Commission office, and from there to the Nepali Congress party office. The office also reported that several road construction works within Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1 have been completed.

The office had invited tenders for the reconstruction of the statue on Kartik 2. The initiative was launched with the objective of making the long-neglected and disorganized statue more systematic, secure, and attractive.

With the completion of the beautification work, the structural management and the historical, literary, and tourism significance of Diktel Bazaar have been further highlighted. Residents feel that the face of Diktel Bazaar, characterized by old structures, is gradually changing through the investment of the Koshi Province government.

The concrete paving of roads in Diktel Bazaar, the district's main commercial hub, has also been completed. Initiated in 2076 BS, the road paving project finally reached completion after seven years. With the paving of the inner road from Kirat Chowk to Haddanda, the problems of dust in winter and mud in the monsoon have been resolved. The unpaved roads, which were once difficult to navigate due to dust and mud, had caused significant hardship for everyone.

Rajan Prasad Acharya, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that the face of Diktel Bazaar has transformed after the long-awaited completion of the road paving. The narrow, muddy, and dusty roads were fully paved using budgets provided by the federal and provincial governments.

The road paving from Shankhadhar Sakhwa Chowk to Bhanuchok in Diktel was completed on Poush 27 (Sunday). The construction company completed the work at a cost of Rs 9,585,078, including VAT and PS, under the Physical Infrastructure Office of the Koshi Province Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development.
