CPN (Masal) General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh Warns of Threats to National Interest

Kathmandu. General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Masal), Mohan Bikram Singh, has claimed that the working style and foreign policy of the current government pose a serious threat to Nepal's national interest.

He expressed this view while presenting his concept paper at an interaction program titled 'Evaluation of Elections and Nepal's Foreign Policy,' organized by the Rastriya Janamorcha in Kathmandu on Saturday.

General Secretary Singh deemed the recently concluded elections unnecessary from political and constitutional perspectives, interpreting them in connection with the strategic interests of foreign power centers. 'The spontaneous movement started by youths against corruption and restrictions on social media appears to have been utilized by foreign powers for their own interests,' he said. 'It is our conclusion that there is a direct influence of American strategy in the current political developments and the formation of the government.'

He expressed concern that efforts are being made to turn Nepal into a center for foreign military strategy and conflict between powerful nations. He claimed that through agreements like the MCC and SPP, the danger of involving Nepal in a military front against China and using Nepali territory for Tibetan affairs is increasing.

Discussing relations with neighboring countries, Singh accused the current government of remaining silent against India's border encroachment, the occupation of the Kalapani region, and controversial citizenship policies. Furthermore, he remarked that the government has failed to take a firm diplomatic stance regarding China's disregard for Nepal's new map.

Singh noted that a 'non-aligned foreign policy' is the best option to protect Nepal from the growing imperialist competition and the threat of war in global politics. 'For a landlocked nation like Nepal, relations with neighbors must be balanced,' he said. 'However, there is doubt that national sovereignty will be protected by the current government. Therefore, the time has come for all patriotic forces to unite and stand for the protection of national interest.'

During the program, he also stated that raising a firm voice against foreign interference and in favor of world peace is the primary responsibility at this time.
