Four Major Nepali Films Set for Clash During New Year Release Window

Kathmandu. The Nepali film industry has an old malady: complaining about injustice when local films compete with foreign ones, yet refusing to avoid clashes among their own Nepali films. They are not unaware that having multiple films release on the same date benefits no one, yet they scramble for a 'good date'.

A similar scene is set to unfold at the start of the New Year, 2083. Four major films are preparing for release coinciding with the New Year festival, aiming to capitalize on the festive mood and holidays. 'Ram Naam Satya', '36 Ko Aankada', and 'Dalle Le Entry Maryo' are set to release on Chaitra 27, while 'Pahad' will be released on Baisakh 1.

Films released during the New Year period in previous years have a history of performing well at the box office. Driven by this lure, four films are ready to compete against each other this time. Producers and directors anticipate that audiences will flock to theaters on Baisakh 1, as everyone is in the mood to celebrate the New Year.

Only one film, 'Pahad', is scheduled for release on the New Year's Day itself, Baisakh 1. Directed by Nepali film legend Tulsi Ghimire, this film appears to have the opportunity for a solo release on this date. Director Ghimire portrays the pain of the Nepali hills and the story of youth migration on screen through this film. Director Ghimire, who has directed many successful films, considers this film his dream project. It has been in the news since its production began.

The film features powerful actors such as Madan Krishna Shrestha, Shiva Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, and Bipin Karki. Director Ghimire is introducing his daughter, Panchami Ghimire, as the heroine through this film. 'Pahad', which boasts an excellent combination of the old and new generations, is expected to make the audience serious and emotional during the New Year. The film is produced by Ghimire's wife, Bharti Ghimire.

Clash of Stars on Chaitra 27

Keeping the New Year business in mind, 'Ram Naam Satya', '36 Ko Aankada', and 'Dalle Le Entry Maryo' are set to clash on Chaitra 27. This clash can be viewed as a clash of stars, as action star Biraj Bhatt's film 'Ram Naam Satya' and Rekha Thapa and Pooja Sharma's film '36 Ko Aankada' are releasing by competing against each other.

'Ram Naam Satya' stars Biraj alongside Sushil Shrestha, Ayush Singh Thakuri, Supushpa Bhatta, and Divya Rayamajhi in lead roles. Directed and written by Michael Chand, the film is produced by Upendra Shahi and Shweta Bimali. The film is expected to draw Biraj's 'mass fan' base to the theaters.

'36 Ko Aankada' features Rekha and Pooja, along with Mahesh Tripathi and Pushpa Khadka. Produced under actress Rekha Thapa's home production, the film is directed by Sabir Shrestha. The film's story revolves around the conflict of female characters. There is unique excitement among the audience as two actresses with large fan bases are releasing simultaneously. However, the clash with other films is certain to affect the distribution of halls and shows.

'Dalle Le Entry Maryo', which is ready to clash with 'Ram Naam Satya' and '36 Ko Aankada', is directed by Raju Giri. The film is gaining attention because of actress Roshni Khadka. Roshni is the young woman who went viral during the Miss Nepal 2025 audition due to a judge's question and behavior. Roshni, who was born without one palm, has started her acting career by turning her physical condition into a strength rather than a weakness. The film, which also stars Sagar Lamsal 'Bale' in a key role, also features actors like Ramesh Budhathoki and Rabindra Jha. The film is said to be based on a social message and a comedy-drama story. However, clashing with films starring big stars is a major challenge for it.

All four films releasing during the New Year are packed with multi-star casts. However, as the release date approaches, the style of promotion appears different. The film 'Ram Naam Satya' has attracted audience attention by releasing a teaser after heating up the market with songs like 'Humla Ko Limi' and 'Dhagole Bateko'.

Similarly, 'Pahad' is also extensively promoting itself through the song 'Mohani Lagauane' and its teaser. Director Tulsi Ghimire himself is active in promotions. Promotional materials for 'Dalle Le Entry Maryo' are also being released. The film has so far released the song 'Mutu Ma Hanchhan Chhura'.

However, '36 Ko Aankada', a film starring stars like Rekha Thapa and Pooja Sharma, has not released much promotional material other than the first look.
